Staccato C2 ICE Compensator Installation

This video outlines the proper installation of the Dawson Precision ICE Comp on your Staccato C2 2011.

Installing the ICE Comp, Staccato C2

The Staccato C2 is one of our best models for concealed carry, and running a compensator will only make this lightweight 2011 run flatter and recover faster between shots. But you may still need to remove it from time to time for cleaning or maintenance of the pistol. The embedded video reviews how to properly remove and re-install the ICE Comp on your Staccato C2.

COMPENSATOR REMOVAL:

  1. Remove the top half of your pistol (slide, barrel, recoil spring assembly) from the frame.
  2. Install the block included with your ICE Comp kit at the back of the barrel to keep it in place.
  3. Use the provided wrench to remove the comp from the end of the barrel.
  4. Remove the shims and gasket from your comp, and the end of the barrel. NOTE: Do not lose your shims! Each comp is uniquely timed to the barrel of each pistol through a unique combination of shims. Losing one will prevent you from being able to properly time the comp on reinstall, and could lead to functioning issues with the pistol.
  5. Attach thread protector and O-ring fully onto the end of your barrel.
  6. When running your pistol without the ICE comp installed, be sure to swap to the factory-weight recoil spring located in your comp kit. If you continue to use the lightweight “comp spring” without the comp, you could increase felt recoil as well as wear-and-tear on the pistol. Over extended periods, this may cause damage.

COMPENSATOR RE-INSTALL:

  1. Remove thread protector and O-ring.
  2. Secure the barrel in place using the supplied barrel block
  3. Install gasket and shims
  4. Insert supplied wrench through the bore of the comp and into the barrel, and begin threading the comp onto the barrel
  5. Once you’ve got the comp properly threaded, you may remove the wrench from the bore and insert it into the compensator’s port to continue turning. NOTE: The comp will continue to move past proper alignment until it runs out of barrel thread. Once this happens, back it off the threads just enough to align properly with the slide
  6. Remove barrel block and install captured recoil assembly into the slide. NOTE: Make sure you use the compensator-specific reverse plug.
  7. Reinstall your slide and slide stop onto the pistol
